Cardigan and Florals

March 20, 2010

OK, I admit, the pose here might be a little distracting…..sorry about that!

Price breakdown:

Cardigan:  (this is part of a sweater set) Liz Claiborne $11.99 (Fashion Junction consignment store)

Brown cami:  Daisey Fuentes $2.29 (Goodwill)

Dress:  Ann Taylor $24.99 (Ann Taylor Loft)

Boots:  BP Sydney boots $1 (Bargain Basket Dollar Days Sale)

Total Cost:  $40.27

Yes, you read that correctly – I bought the dress retail at an Ann Taylor Loft store.  It wasn’t even an outlet – just a regular retail store.

Here’s how that happened -  I was meeting my friend Chris for dinner, when I lived in Houston, and I had arrived early, so I had about 20 minutes to kill.  The restaurant was right next to an Ann Taylor Loft store, so….well, you know the rest of the story…

Actually, I got out of there with the dress, 3 skirts and a shirt for under $100, and I thought I was doing pretty good.  I still wear all the items quite often, so I don’t regret those purchases at all.

As for the outfit above – it seems weird to see myself in such a springy outfit…..especially when it snowed today!

But I love the colors – I’m really glad I’ve held onto that coral sweater set.

Since I’m trying out my new rating system, I think this is a solid 4 (on a scale of 1 – 5, with 5 being “You go girl!”).  The only thing I might change is maybe wearing a wider belt?

But like I said, I love the colors, and I think this is a great Spring outfit.  If only Spring would get here…..

Post Update – Since the original post, I read your comments and decided to try this outfit with a larger belt – and I think that works alot better.  I also tried it with the thin belt, but the cardi unbuttoned, which is also better than the original.   And, I also think the original pose wasn’t too flattering….but after looking at the pictures, the wider belt is the way to go, don’t you think?

  1. I would agree, try a wider belt or no belt?

    • Melissa,
I took your advise and tried a wider belt – I updated my post, so check it out!

  2. Champp’s, by any chance? I think I remember you telling me you had been to ATL… Looks great!

    • Oh my Gosh – Chris – you remember! yes, Champps, Astros playoffs game….that’s about all I’m willing to admit to that night!

  3. I agree it’s a 4. Yes the belt could be wider. I love the colors together, and I could see myself wearing something like this. (PS I LOVE Ann Taylor Loft. One of my favorite outfits I got there for under $15, not including shoes/accessories).

    • I was curious how it would look with a larger belt, and gave it a try – check out my post now with the update, and let me know what you think!

  4. Hair looks great and wider belt looks much better!
You are such a busy bee, great job :)

  5. I agree with Rena, the wider belt is better. It’s really a great look.

  6. I do love this with a wide belt most. You look great! :)
